Heatwave Technology – Bissell recommends the clean water tank be filled with hot tap water when preparing the unit for use. The Heatwave Technology feature of the Bissell 5207F spot cleaner is not designed to heat cold water but to keep the hot water/formula temperature constant throughout the cleaning process.

3 Amps Motor – The SpotClean Portable 5207 model has a 3 amp motor and operates from a 120V power source. For a small portable cleaner, that’s a good punch of power. It’s not going to be as powerful as the Bissell SpotClean Pro or Rug Doctor Portable Spot cleaner, but it’s motor power is equivalent to the Bissell SpotBot Pet.
Two-Tank System – There is one tank for filling clean water and another dedicated to collecting dirty water. Both clean water and dirty water tanks are easy to remove and replace. The clean water tank features a water fill line, and formula fill lines for large stain or small stain treatments.
37 oz Tank Capacity – The tank capacity is 37 oz. The tanks are small, and designed for cleaning small areas. Frequent refilling and emptying will be required when attempting to clean large areas of carpeting. 15 ft Power Cord – The lengthy 15 ft, quick-release power cord is long enough for cleaning most areas in the average household.
Model Variations: The Bissell SpotClean Portable Carpet Cleaner machines come in different model numbers such as the 5207F and 5207W. They are basically the same machine with superficial differences, tailored for different retailers. For example, the SpotClean Portable 5207F that is popularly sold on Amazon comes a blue handle, while SpotClean Portable 5207W popularly sold on Walmart comes with a green handle.
Both have Heatwave Technology for keeping water warm. Both the 5207F and 5207W have similar looking “deep reach” or “deep stain” tool attachments.

Great Mid-Range Portable Unit – Cleans & Suctions Well
If you use the Bissell SpotClean Portable as intended, you will find it works as it is supposed to work. This unit is not meant for cleaning a large carpeted area. It is intended for use in cleaning up for small spots, embedded stains, and spills. It is ideal for cleaning spots and stains on stairs, but if you attempt to clean a full flight of stairs, several trips may be needed to refill the clean water tank and empty the dirty water tank.
The SpotClean Portable cleaner machine employs Bissell’s proprietary Heatwave technology to keep the water in the tank warm when in use. This adds to the carpet cleaning effectiveness. This little unit also has great suction power, so a large amount of cleaning can be done in a relatively short time.
It does a remarkable job for a cleaning appliance of its size. Some users are really impressed with its versatility, noting that it is especially effective on chairs and sofas that have not been cleaned for a long time, if ever.
Cats, Puppies, and Dogs that Drool or Throw Up
The Bissell SpotClean Portable 5207 model is a nice companion to have if you are housebreaking a puppy, which can be a stressful time when you in a house with carpeting. This small machine is ideal for cleaning up small puddles. Cats can leave messes behind as well, and some breeds of dogs have perfected the art of drooling, yet another cause of stains.

Minimal Assembly Required
The only assembly required when the unit first comes out of the box is that of attaching the flex hose clip to the front of the machine, attaching the hose grip bracket to the back of the machine, and attaching the cord wrap on one side of the machine. All three parts snap easily into place, after which the power cord can be wrapped around the cord wrap and the flex hose can be wrapped around and attached to the base of the machine for convenience in storage.
For most users, the unit takes no more than about 5 minutes to assemble once taken out of the box, and the user manual provides easy to follow directions.
Budget Friendly
